Plug your serial number in to this website to find out model and year.

Looks like a Marathon, which were made from 1975 to 1993.
Does it have a resistor or an electronic controller drive system?

Looks like you've got the controller version.
Attached is a schematic diagram that is either what you've got, or pretty close to it.

It definitely needs some TLC, but it's got potential. (The controller versions are easier to upgrade, or at least that's the impression I've gotten from what's been posted on this forum)

As for your original question, was it a good cart? I believe the answer is: Yes!
Some members of this forum have restored them and others have upgraded them for more torque and/or speed.

Search the forum for "Marathon", read what has been done to them and go from there.

Good luck, be safe and have fun.
John

The plastic cowl clip or nose piece indicates a late year Marathon 89-93 of those (I believe) the 91 & up were controller carts. They came with a Curtis 350 amp controller but bigger controls are available

Cool Re: Info on the ezgo cart please

1989 was the swap out year for them. The first cart I owned and modified.
These carts are hard to beat! They just keep on going like the rabbit! I wished I had never sold it. They are just great carts if you take care of them.

Yes it was I spared nothing on it and like a DA I sold it. I saw it the other day and it's been trashed! The guy who owns it know bought it from the guy I sold it to and his family trashed it.

I hate people that don't appreciate or value what they have.

I'd love to get me a marathon oneday and put a mild lift on it. Nothing fancy just like a work horse like the one you posted.
