Default Ok winter is Coming- what to do for My cart?

I am constantly checking to make sure batteries are kept topped off.
I lost some batteries 2 winters ago, by not making sure they were cycled properly and got very cold-

What should I do to keep them from freezing again/

Place a small light bulb in the battery cavity?

get a small tarp for harbor freight and have it under the cart to keep the cold air from circulating?

any other suggestions? the weather dudes and dudettes are saying this could be a bad winter

I do not have the luxury of keeping the cart inside- I have bought a couple large tarps to cover the cart- I have some foam boards 1/4 inch thick and I was going to tape a little box together to keep the winds away from it

thanks in advance- you folks have never steered me wrong

oh its a 48 volt ezgo/bad boy buggy- 2005 and is awesome for an old broken bodied Rugby player that loves fishing and hunting

Do you have the option of taking the batteries indoors for the winter, avoids problems and theft.
If you can't take them in, disconnect 1 lead from the battery string (+ or -) and charge once a month and you will be fine.
IMO the box, tarp and light bulb are more of a fire hazard than a help.

I was wondering the same thing. I do keep mine in the garage, so do I need to do anything else? Do I keep in plugged in over winter?
