club car precedent lift kit/brake cable problem
Good evening everyone. I have a problem with my Precedent cart. I put a madjax 6" lift on my cart with heavy duty springs. My problem is now that my brake cable on the drivers side wont reach back to the bracket that it rides in.I have the kit installed corectly and have checked everything. Has anyone had this problem or can tell me how to fix it?

Re: club car precedent lift kit/brake cable problem
I have heard that you have to get new longer cables when you put on a lift...

Re: club car precedent lift kit/brake cable problem
I had to let the cables hang loose in the back where they connect by the drums, the cables connect in a bracket before the wire hooks to the drum.
If you have the cable in the bracket remove it and let the cable just hang. |

why in the world would they sell a kit and not tell you that? I called mad jax and they said that you don't have to change the cable.I think it's because the heavy duty leaf spring but I'm not sure. The stock one is a single leaf and the heavy duty is a 4 leaf.I have no idea.

Re: club car precedent lift kit/brake cable problem
. . . many people that had your issue just replaced the driver's (left) brake cable with a passenger's (right) cable and problem solved . . .

Re: club car precedent lift kit/brake cable problem
You have two options. Either buy another passenger side cable (longer than driver) and install it on the driver's side. Or Flip brake clusters upside down and swap drive and passenger with each other. This will put brake slide mechanism at the top instead of at the bottom. This is the way I do mine. Be sure to utilize the original spring retaining/cable retaining plate on top of the axle, yet under the spring for proper cable alignment.

Re: club car precedent lift kit/brake cable problem
ok I will take a look at flipping the brake cluster over. Never fooled with this before hope it is a simple fix. Can it all be done underneath or from top side?

Re: club car precedent lift kit/brake cable problem
I just replaced the drivers cable with a passenger cable like Tdawg said it has to be done underneath and above I suppose as you will have to pull floor mat up and access panel and disconnect the drivers brake cable then pull it thru and disconnect from rear brake and replace with the longer passenger cable..They make a special tool to make it easier to remove the cables but I did it the hard way.

Re: club car precedent lift kit/brake cable problem
Just installed 4 inch Jakes lift on 2009 Precedent and an going to install passenger side brake cable on drivers side, but wondering about the excess length. Where/how do you install it so it isn't hanging around??
