DS Upgrade (Controller and Cables)
I'm looking to put bigger tires on my DS so I might as well start the upgrade process as well..
What i'm looking for to start is a good controller package for my 91 DS 36v.. What i'd like to do is keep the same motor that I have in it now for the time being, but upgrade the controller and cables.. My question is, which controller is compatible with my current motor but would be able to accommodate a plum quick motor or something similar if later on down the road I decide to upgrade to that? Thanks in advance fellas... -Chuck |

Re: DS Upgrade (Controller and Cables)
I'm not really sure... I'm thinking of staying at 36v as i'm not looking to break land speed records.. Just enough torque to keep the tires rolling i suppose

Re: DS Upgrade (Controller and Cables)
48v would be a better upgrade. Simply put, increase in voltage equals increase in power. Upgrading to 48v will help turn the taller tires, but also gain some runtime due to the motor working somewhat less.
Is your '91 DS a resistor cart? If so, that is the same as mine and after I had spoke to Scottyb a few weeks ago, I decided I would do the C54 package when I'm ready to upgrade. This kit will allow me to run 36v and then upgrade to 48v later. C52 is another good package if you truely wanted to stay 36v. Edit: I'm currently doing my own 2AWG cable conversion. Bought some bulk cable, crimps, and a hammer crimp tool. Waiting on my heat shrink to deliver before I can go any further. |

Re: DS Upgrade (Controller and Cables)
Upgrade to 48 volts.... ScottyB sells the items needed. I bought my stuff from him 2 years ago and couldn't be happier.... I still use the 36 volt motor
