The idle topic has been hashed over many times here for a variety of reasons. If the engine is in good condition other than choking it, you shouldn't really need a warm up period. Biggest thing is good compression and valves adjusted correctly.

id swap it for a Vc460! i have a gx390 swapped in mine with a few mods and love it and yes being able to warm it up and rev it is nice also good for hunting if you need to idle down being quiet
