What's the measurements? The #2015 belt shows it's over 39" long, that would be about 3" too long. The G1 stock belt should be a little over 36" x 1 3/16" wide. It sounds like you might have the wrong belt.

The wrong belt will, at minimum, result in poor performance. I would get the correct length & width belt. Best bet is yamaha OEM for a stock G1. It is normal for some "slack", but wrong length will result in poor climbing on hills and slow top speed.

Usually the Yami belt is super tight when you first install it. So tight, in fact, that the cart usually moves forward while cranking to start. It will loosen up pretty quickly with some hours of driving. None of the aftermarket belts I tried for mine were loose, they all fit pretty tight. I can say the Plowman's belt was the best, it was super HD and lasted the longest.

Also most new belts are sticky for a bit. Sorry but you really need the right size to have it run best.
