Default g1 exh. gasket

hi ya'll, got a question, when i remove the muffler on my 81 g1, what are the chances that the two rings, (and or the), ring nut over the gasket will be
in pieces and parts? i'm hesitant because i don't want to be without a cart waiting for part! wife says i'm too rough on her electric.
please see attachment...thanks for any info, jim

The "nut ring" stay's on the cylinder when you take off the muffler (2 springs and the 2 band straps that hold the muffler on), probable the worst is the nut ring has the 2 rings(like piston rings) and they will be rusted. Take the muffler off and see if the rings are rusted, if not no worries,if so use some good penatrating lube. They really just "seal" at the muffler flange for no leaking. Good luck
