96 TXT Getting the look right-lift kit for BB with right wheel/tire combo
Hey all, I've got a 96 TXT that I'm beginning to overhaul. I'm going to be adding a big block down the road so I'm looking at adding the lift kit now, which I understand needs about a minimum 4" lift to fit. The cart will be an On-road only machine and I do not want large gaps between the fender and top of the tires nor do I want the tires to be sticking way outside of the fenders (wider stance) in order to keep a real clean look. My issue is I do not fully understand the wheel tire sizing such as "3+5" etc. As of right now I'm looking at a 4" drop axle lift with 12" wheels and low pro tires 205/30-12. Do you guys think this combo will help me achieve my desired results? Thanks!

Re: 96 TXT Getting the look right-lift kit for BB with right wheel/tire combo
First off, WELCOME!
Second, Yes you will need a lift to clear a big block and the lift you are looking at will be a good choice. The 3+5 is the offset of the wheels that tells you where the wheel face is in relation to the width of the wheel. The 205/50/12 tires are going to look really small with a lift. You might want to look at some EFX Fuzion ST tires. They are 23/9.5/12's are would be a better 'fit' for your needs. Also, if you do not post pics of your project you could be banned; so post some pics! |

Re: 96 TXT Getting the look right-lift kit for BB with right wheel/tire combo
Thanks for the feedback! I can post some pics where do I post to? So even with a 3" lift 215/50/12 (20.5"OD) wouldn't fill the fenders enough? I just measured my stock tire height and I'm at 17.5" od.
Thanks! |

Quote:
A 215/50/12 is a little larger than stock, but would fit without a lift and look right. The original size you posted (205/30-12) is 8.07 inches wide, and only 16.84 inches tall and that would look a little small. |
