Default oil injection vs. mix it yourself

I'm still a newbie with an 84 columbia! My cart has some jerry-rigged funnel on it that has a hose that leads to the air airtake/cooling area. I make the assumption this is for pil injection, however I don't know. In the manual there are no pictures and as I noted mine does not have the original equiptment.

So - can I just plug that hose and mix my own fuel based on the ratio in the manual?

Does anyone have a picture of an engine that I can see the oil injection on?

Thanks

Yes you can mix your own oil gas Better off to do that. You can take that oil pump off the front of the motor and plug the hose that goes to the carb, you'll just need to get a new points cover thats what i did to my 87.

I run both premix and oil injection. I normally use the same premix for my dirt bike and chain saw in my cart. If you use a Synthetic it will not smoke or foul a plug. I like the extra protection when making long drives in hot weather. (Most two stroke golf carts are jetted too lean for road use, so the added oil will help prevent overheating.) Keeping the oil injection also adds a safety measure if someone decides to put straight gas in the tank when I am not around.

I use pre-mix and do not have a problem with it. I use Walmart 2 cycle oil now but they have a synthetic mix for 2 cycles I am thinking about using. I have been using that oil for 6 years now and use the cart daily. I change the plug every 2 years needed or not. Seems to help!
