Default 2008 Drive "surges' at low speed

Does anyone have the same problem as I do and/or what can be done about it?

My new (less than 10 rounds) Yamaha Drive 48 volt cart seemingly engages and disengages repeatedly at less than full throttle. It is esspecially noticeable at very slow (creeping) speeds and on inclines/up hill. It's nauseating at the very least and not AT ALL what I'd expect from a high end cart.

Maybe it's due to the high performance chip I had installed?

Anybody have any thoughts or similar opinions? The dealer says "it's their nature" but I don't buy it. A request via customer contact on the Yamaha website hasn't been answered.

If the dealer told you they installed a chip they lied to you. I would contact yamaha corporate. Yamaha drives have 25 modes (maybe 5 more, modes a-e I believe) 13 is the midrange regen setting, 25 being the least amount of regen.

They can go even more with a package (not sure what the package is called) but the dealer has to give them the serial of the car and the serial of the speed controller. Package includes headlight. tailights, mirrors and some other stuff. I think they assign a V.I.N to the car. Then and only then will Yamaha give you a code for the controller. Faster than 20 MPH with the "code"....everything else is less than 20 MPH

I think smallblock450sl works at a Yamaha Dealership. I'm sure he would be more than happy to fill in the details of how the system works as far as those codes.
