How to change rotation of starter/generator
I have an aftermarket starter/generator that turns CCW and I was told that you can also make it turn CW depending on how you wire it...any insight is greatly appreciated...

Swap the wires going to the A1 and A2 terminals.

i was tod that a generator cannot generate power in both directions. it can function as a starter in either but not generate.

Good point , hey Dman can U check the next time U have the cart running and see if the battery is getting the correct 15+ volts to charge the battery.

It should charge also, but bear in mind that the brushes are meant to trail on the commutator. What I mean is that the angle that the brush contacts the commutator is to push against the immobile part of the holder, not the spring loaded part. It may never cause you a problem, but if the brush happens to catch in one of the grooves, it may shatter! if you want to do this, I would recommend chamfering all the edges of the brushes that contact the commutator,
to reduce the tendency for this to happen!  |
