Default Locating Cheap Differential Gear Set?

Hello all. New here. ...although I've been reading for hours as a guest. Have an electric EZ Go Marathon (?) C201 at saw mill where I work, that is barely running due to economy, and need cheap way to fix rear end gears grinding. Pulled motor. Coupler and input spline look fine. Hold input spline with pliers and push cart. Hear gears popping inside. I'm seeing repair gears for several hundred dollars, which this saw mill does not have, for golf cart repair.

Hoping someone can direct me to a "used" cheaper rear end gear set? Saw mill in southeast Virginia area (Suffolk, Norfolk, Newprot News, etc.,) I live in northeast North Carolina. Lots of golf courses around. Maybe one has thrown away electric EZ Go that parts can be sold from? Any other ideas?

This is PDS model. Have a much older EZ Go electric at saw mill, from years ago, that used wire wound speed control. Will the rear end from it fit the newer one? I think the motor was at right angle to rear end.

Really like all the information here. But only break down of gear set I could find was for Yamaha. Are they the same gears inside? Rear end same?

Welcome to BGW.

"IF" the spider gears are broken it "might" be possible to weld the differential solid, like a live axle. The bonus to this is NO COST. (or very minimal) Take the diff cover off and inspect the gears to see what is actually broken first.

If you don't like the idea of welding gears then check out our for sale section. You may find what you need at a resonable cost.

The other rear end will not work nor will the gears inside.

Hey thanks for idea of welding, Roady89, And hello Rusty.

What about that one link, when looking for drawing breakdown of EZ Go differential, that sends me to picture of Yamaha rear end? Is this Yamaha the same? I mean, when I'm searching for used replacement gears, can I include Yamaha carts? That link is in this forum, first Stickey, and then second post.

It looks a lot like what is in my EZ Go. Thanks again, for any help and info.

OK, but mine is an EZ GO, and I'm still asking if my differential is the same as the Yamaha that is shown in this forum in the first Sticky, then second post?

Did EZ GO, and Yamaha, and now Hundai, all use the same electric rear end? ...in the 2001 year production?

Eddie
Pretty sure you will find one of the brake hubs is stripped not the rearend gears. Pretty cheap fix. Common electric ezgo problem.
