Default 12v or 72v SW202 switch

any ideas where to find a forward/reverse contactor that the coil voltage is 12v or 72v?
I see them on ebay but they are direct ship from China and its a slow boat.

I learned the hard way and have made it my mission not to allow the same to happen to others: give the site sponsors the first shot and get it done right with the right part the first time!

I have not seen the 12 v or 72 v options available from any of the site sponsors ... but check them out anyway.

If a site sponsor can't supply, try some of the EV suppliers such as: https://evdrives.com/albright-sw202-...v-64v-72v-96v/

Is your battery pack made up of 12v batteries? If yes, you have the option to run 12, 24, 36, or 48 volt coils.

I just noticed the link that I gave you was for an Albright SW202 Style Reversing Contactor.

The keyword in that description is "Style" ... I guess in advertising that is a code word for "Knock Off" or "Chinese Knock Off" as that is where it is most likely manufactured.

The original manufacturer of these contactors is Albright International (https://www.albrightinternational.com/products/sw202/) who are a UK based manufacturer.

In North America, Albright products are under the Curtis Albright label (https://www.curtisinstruments.com/pr...dc-contactors/).

So what is the difference? Product quality and durability come to mind.

For instance, the previous link I provided for the knockoff reversing contactor indicates a mechanical life of 100,000 cycles and an electric life (what ever that is) of 20,000 cycles.

Albright quotes a mechanical life for their reversing contactor of greater than 5,000,000 cycles. No "electric life" is quoted by Albright.

So buyer beware is the saying ... if you see "Style" in the product description, it is most likely a knock off.

See attached Albright Reversing Contactor Specs for your reference.

Also keep in mind, the Albright maximum recommended contact voltage without magnetic blowouts is 48 volts DC. Above, 48 volts DC you should be running magnetic blowouts

The magnetic blowouts ... again according to Albright ... "enable high currents to be ruptured very quickly so that arcing time is reduced to a minimum".

Ive got a 72v main contactor coming so that pretty much commits me to 72v controls system.
Has anyone built a forward reverse, using some heavy duty SPDT contactors?

Use a 6 pole contactor to make your own. This drawing is from an old friend of mine here by the username of Rabbit
