Default Brakes help

I am having some brake issues. I have a 2001 EZGO TXT. 22"tire 6inch lift, 500 amp Altrax controller and 502:1 motor. I am using the buggie mostly for hunting and with the rain down here I have taking it in a lot of mud. I am not sure if the brakes are deteriorated or if it is just water getting into the brakes, but it seems like I have immediately lost my brakes. adjusted them, but doesn't help. When it dries out it works a little better, but still crappy. Are there better brakes or should I just expect this to keep happening?

Ezgo has marginal braking power. Yes, there are much better hydraulic disc brakes available But short of that you can pull the drums and use brake kleen and sand paper on the shoes and drums to get them working as good as they can.

Pull 'em off and give 'em a good cleaning Just remember the brake drum axle nut needs 85 ft/lbs when you replace it. NEVER back the bolt off to insert the cotterpin

also check your cables for rusting. they are bad about rusting inside and cuase you to have very limited brakes.

one thing to note is these brakes are not sealed. they are open so if you drive thru water/mud you are allowing water/mud to enter your rear brakes.
