400 or 500 amp Alltrax controller
I will be purchasing a Alltrax controller for my 2006 EZGO PDS cart with 6" lift and 22" tires and I am at a dilemna. I do not plan on changing out the stock motor but you know how things change and I do not want to be limited if I do. I am going to change all the wiring to 4 gauge, heavy duty solenoid and either a 400 or 500 amp controller and will be using the cart at the hunting camp with moderate hills. Any suggestions from people with a similar setup on which amp controller to get would be greatly appreciated.

Re: 400 or 500 amp Alltrax controller
A 400 amp will take care of 90 percent of your needs, if you go larger you will have some more power and speed. Outside of what you have told us, it really depends on what you really want out of the cart.

Re: 400 or 500 amp Alltrax controller
Thanks for the input, just out of curiousity does a 500 amp controller and larger motor cutdown on runtime substantially? What kind of runtime and mileage can I expect with this cart with a 400 amp controller and new t105's?

Re: 400 or 500 amp Alltrax controller
It's been my experience that most people when provided with more power, use it. Most people just can't keep their foot out of it.
I'd say 90% of the time after a controller and motor upgrade the run time will decrease but hey, you get there faster so either add more lead or lift. Your call! |

Re: 400 or 500 amp Alltrax controller
If you are questioning the 400 amp, then just get the 500 and run it at 100%, but set top speed to 80% or 90% - this way you get extra torque, but the same speed.
I personally think the 400 amp @ 100% across the board is the best answer, though |

Re: 400 or 500 amp Alltrax controller
I've been pondering the same question. I want to upgrade the controller this year and next year switch to 48V. I picked up a new six pack of 105s today. I am running a '05 PDS with low profile tires. We have a few hills at the campground that are kind of steep. Sounds like 400 will be plenty?????

I am very pleased with my 05 pds with alltrax 400a and 4ga wires. the overall performance is acceptable to me.
