ok, using the pages you emailed me, i checked the voltage at all the suggested pins. Everything checked out correct, but still does not go in reverse. could this be pointing then to an internal failure of the controller?

does anyone know if the solenoid coupled with the diodes can cause your golf cart to not go in reverse?

No the solenoid and diode can not make the cart work in Forward and not reverse and since your controller does the F&R shifting I would guess you have a bad controller if you have checked the micro switches at the F&R etc,

i replaced the controller and now it backs up. however, now, when i attempt to go forward or backward, it begins to go and then loses power. literally loses power. could it be a bad battery? any ideas?
