Default 84 Charger - Ground/Shock Issues

Hi All,

Anyways, my 1984 charger (manual turn mechanical timer on the front) has decided to begin making my arm tingle when plugged in, and I touch any metal on the case.

Noting that the ground plug was broken off the plug, I put on a new end, ground included, figuring this is the cause of my tingly excitement.

Plugged in with the ground, the charger now refuses to shut off, and will run, even when the timer is in the off position.

Just to prove my theory, I disattached the ground wire at the plug, and lo and behold, the charger now shuts off again.

Any ideas? Not fond of being shocked, but do also need the charger to turn off!

RED TAG IT AND DO NOT USE IT TILL YOU HAVE IT FIXED.
Also get a ground fault receptical to plug it into.
If you are not electrily inclined it is not a do it yourself job.

Thanks Doomsman,

I am pretty electrically inclined though, so if there is a suggestion how to fix, I'm all ears!

I am not a sparky cart guy but I would get a gfi receptacle
first and then open it up(unplugged of course) and look for
any shorts or melted leads. One of the others more up on
these will maybe have an idea.
