Wiring Lights for CC DS with 4 12v batteries
Hello,
I wanted to ask how to properly wire a light kit onto my Club Car DS (2006) that appears to have 4 (12v) batteries. Most wiring diagrams illustrate wiring for 6 battery configurations. So, the question is simple, how should I wire my lights and do I need a voltage reducer? Thanks! T.Wells |

The correct way is to use a voltage reducer, but to be honest, I don't. I have the exact same cart and have my lights running off the one battery on the drivers side of the cart. If and when I buy a new set of batteries, I'll consider installing a voltage reducer.

12 volt batteries will have 6 fill locations (8 volts have four and 6 volts have three). This will help you determine which batteries you have....
If you wire to just one battery your lights will work but over time you will cause that battery to go bad because it will charge that battery much harder decreasing it's life. It is always better to use a voltage reducer. They are available from our sponsors here on this forum I like to use Golf Cart King. http://www.golfcartking.com/ They will match any price you find and their service and shipping are exemplary! Based on the attached picture, can anyone tell which battery type I have? Certainly only 4 batteries included but I am not with the cart right now so it is hard for me to tell without taking off the white caps. Thanks again, T.Wells |

Perfect. Thanks. That is what I thought I had but I wanted to be sure. I think I'll play it safe and get the voltage reducer.
Once I am done this project, off to getting the cart painted (by and autobody shop) and maybe lifted as well (will need to see if I can do it or not). I am amazed at how addicting this can be with my new (to me) cart. -T.Wells |

The choice is yours and many choose to mount an additional 12 volt deep cycle in the bag well just for accessories. By the time you do this you will have spent just as much and you'll have to charge it independently....... |
