Default Only goes forward when hits certain sweet spot

1993 Ezgo. Brand new batteries fully charged. FNR cleaned and wires going to and fro all sanded and cleaned.

Stutters big time until it hits a certain area of accelerator and will cruise quite well. If pedal is pressed down any further than the sweet spot, it will not run.

Switched the FNR reverse and forward and it replicates same in reverse. I believe that can rule out FNR

Where is the next step to look please

Yes very novice... yet with this forum I have been able to keep both my old old gas and electric Ezgos running at my campground for years. Very few posts needed, as most information needed has already been answered in other posts. Could not find this or even how to correctly describe

Thanks in Advance

I would replace the potentiometer.

It's the throttle signal device.
First monitor battery pack under acceleration, if voltage not dropping when the cart is shuttering pack likely ok.
Carefully tighten enter pivot nut on F&R until it gets a little harder to turn (usually 1/4 to 1/2 turn) if problem persists.
see Potentiometer.
Test signal 0-5k with ohm meter. Signal should be smooth.

Have a Voltage meter on cart, and watched did not go down.

Will try tightening this weekend, as do tend to overtighten things, so just tightened as fear of breaking the copper pivot studs.

Have learned an Ohm meter pretty well, so will check when out there this weekend and worse case will know the exact potentiometer needed before ordering.

Thanks and will let you know the findings

This could be a problem then with the contacts. Sooner or later you learn tight on an electrical connection is not the same as tight on a tractor tire. The center pivot shaft nut I suggested you re-tension, not crush.

Finally got to check. Took off FNR and clean all copper again. Ohm set at 20k, read .01 accelerate would start at about 300 and when down to where it would die, got reading up to almost 2000. Odd the sweet spot read about 500, so thought perhaps had meter wrong so set meter at 200k and read 3 to 19.8, so believe checked correctly

so it does show I believe potentiometer ohm rising at acceleration, yet 2021 was highest reading

Tried reading set at 2000 rather than 20k or 200k. Does lose all readings after accelerate past sweet spot. Potentiometer is rather expensive: would like to insure before. You guys are the best

Pot should read 0-5000 in forward and 0-2500 in reverse

Thank you both! Easy fix of replacing potentimeter. Have not had time to check ohms, yet it's all sweet spots now. Use for my grandchildrens visit and cruising and to now be able to cruise from 1-14mph is fantastic.

This forum is the best!!!!
