Fuel Injected TXT 295cc w/ LS2 Coils
Hello all!
I thought I would share my 2002 TXT that I converted to fuel injection Here is the youtube video: Fuel Injected EZGO TXT w/ Robin 295 Walkaround Why you might ask? I got really tired of hard starts, choke, backfires, lack of power etc. so I decided to embark on fuel injection. The fuel injection I used is based on the Speeduino, a hand soldered ECU that is currently being developed - http://speeduino.com/ It starts every time now, immediately, and makes great power. I still have some tuning to do, but overall I am very satisfied! This was a gnarly amount of work, and even more trial and error! I have pictures of the entire build, so if you want a build thread, I don't mind doing a write up. Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks! Louis |

Re: Fuel Injected TXT 295cc w/ LS2 Coils
Nice setup. I am working on the final tuning of my own EFI using the Arduino Mega 2560 for development, and the final version will be Arduino Pro Mini.

Re: Fuel Injected TXT 295cc w/ LS2 Coils
My setup is based on the Arduino Mega 2560.. it's mounted under the PCB you see in the box
I, like you, started with just an Arduino Mega 2560... I started buying parts and getting ready to build my own setup, but then I ran across the Speeduino, an Arduino implementation of the Megasquirt DIY EFI setup. (here is the Arduino Mega code https://github.com/noisymime/speeduino) You could take the system I have and plug it in to your Briggs and be up in no time. Adjust the engine constants, the injector(s), VE table, and you are ready to party! Josh Stewart, who wrote all code, has done a great job. It does open loop as it sits, and closed loop while tuning with the full version of TunerStudio. He sells the PCBs for the setup - all the inputs are protected, MAP is on board, etc. It really sped things up for me. In looking at your thread, it appears their project is quite a bit farther along. You might want to look in to it. I can share my knowledge. It's nice that they are already setup with a well known tuning software. Here are some pics from my build: Golf cart to start with: On the bench: Blank Speeduino PCB: Arduino Mega 2560 Mounted: Finished: Modified carb: TPS Potentiometer (cut down): Mounted to carb: Airbox injector setup: A look down the the "throttle body": MAP Port installed in the carb, with TPS finished: |

Making mount for Hall effect sensor:
First iteration of the fuel return: Starting to connect to Robin 295: [/url] Cart tear down: Custom mount for EFI (Don't judge my welds!!!!) : Custom mount for coils and fuel pump: Finished cart: I don't know how much work that looks like, but it was a ton.... Now it's running great so all is well Louis |

I know exactly how much work it was. Great job!
How much $ do you think you have in your setup?(EFI and Ignition Timing) |

Re: Fuel Injected TXT 295cc w/ LS2 Coils
If you already own a Mega 2560, you can build a two channel (two injectors and two coils) Speeduino for ~$65 to $75. On the 295 you only need a single channel on each (injector and coil), so even cheaper. Is the Briggs wasted spark? Are the cylinders 180 degrees out of phase?
None the less, minus prototyping costs (aka screw ups ) I completed the EFI and Ignition for probably ~$300 to $400. Here are the parts: Speeduino PCB - https://speeduino.com/shop/index.php...roller=product You will have to download the BOM and build yourself (bill of materials). The link is bad, so if you need it let me know. Here is my private BOM on Digikey I have shared, not sure if it will work after you sign up? https://www.digikey.com/classic/Regi...t=1&id=2925959 Try it and let me know. Fuel pump (you will have to modify with a 3/8" brass pipe and epoxy to work outside of fuel tank) - http://www.ebay.com/itm/151802132288 LS2 coils - http://www.ebay.com/itm/131170339039 Coil connectors - http://www.ebay.com/itm/361350842060 Fuel pressure regulator - http://www.ebay.com/itm/251926941992 80g/sec Fuel Injector (they offer up to 248g/sec, which is MORE than enough for the Briggs) - http://www.aliexpress.com/item/BRAND...292413156.html Wideband 02 sensor (you won't find cheaper) - http://www.wide-band.com/product-p/apsx_d1g1.htm 02 Sensor bung - Hall effect sensor (can be found cheaper elsewhere)- Blue tooth for Arduino - Box for Speeduino - http://www.ebay.com/itm/141690929424 Homedepot and O'reilly's will nickle and dime you to death, but hey, its all for fun I am sure I am forgetting some stuff. If I think of anything else I will post. Louis |

Re: Fuel Injected TXT 295cc w/ LS2 Coils
Thanks
No, it's an aftermarket body (cowl and rear section) made by Double Take called the TXT Titan - http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Titan-Go...-/281686478875 I am happy with the look but two quick notes - If you have a factory rear seat cart like I do, you will have to grind/cut to get the body to fit, and the factory rear bumper does not fit (also part of the factory rear seat setup). Re: Fuel Injected TXT 295cc w/ LS2 Coils
It's great to see someone on this forum with a common interest in EFI.
My goal was to build the EFI for less than anything else on the market. So far, I have about $135 into the necessary parts(minus the wideband). I have more money into the project, but that's because of the experimentation I did. The electronic timing control cost about another $27, including the LS2 coils. The Briggs motor is wasted spark, 90° between cylinder TDC. After I wrote the original program for the Mega 2560, the motor started right up and I only needed to make a simple fuel map adjustment to get it to idle. There is no IAC on the throttle body I have. My motor has a supercharger running 15 pounds of boost. Tuning has taken me a while, but that's mostly because I haven't made it a priority. The entire control box is about 3"x4". Also, no need for a missing tooth setup. Here is a video of it in action. |

So with no missing tooth, how do you derive crank angle? How are you doing timing advance without crank position? Are you going to integrate with a tuner software? And why no wide band? How are you going to tune? That was the nice part about the Speeduino and TunerStudio - closed loop tuning to match a user definable AFR table Do you have any videos of it the cart? |
