You could always use 8v batteries? 6/8v will fit in the exact same space as 6/6v will.

OK. I have the same issue with a 1997 36 volt series and good battery pack. Under load it drops from 38 to 36 volts on flat pavement and an additional volt (drops to 35) on an incline, but it is painfully slow uphill (about 5 mph).

Assuming that's what it's supposed to do with stock parts, what modifications would you recommend other than buying a different cart.

Note: This is my first cart. I should have an original shop manual in the mail today. I'm pretty good mechanically but the number of wires under the seat are mind blowing.

Poser your cart seems excessively slow. original top speed was about 12-14 on the flats. Do you still get that? If no, there may be other problems with the cart like battery voltage under load (when the cart is going 5 mph) or worn motor, draggin brakes, low tire pressure, cable resistance.

It goes 12 on flat ground. All batteries 6.6v. 37.5 volts no load. 35.6 volts wide open flat ground. 34.5 volts uphill. 22 pounds all tires. Nothing dragging. I haven’t got a voltage at the motor while running yet. I assume I should tap A1 and A2 for that check.

The shop manual showed up today.

It's a series cart. Slow is their middle name. These carts make more torque than speed and are well suited for off the road use.

That may be the final verdict.

I've got some general upgrade recommendations on my website - if you skim through this info you will see which carts lend themselves to which performance with what upgrades

A1 to A2 is only across the armature and field windings are in series with the armature, so you'll only be reading part of the voltage applied to the motor.

Measure from M- to B+ at controller to get motor voltage.
