Re: G2/G9 Twins I've Inherited - Non-running
Finally got all the pictures downloaded and resized.
Had to stop and handle more paperwork on my dad's estate. Sigh. It seems never ending. So depressing. Also have his 293 acres to keep up now and I swear tractor maintenance was not at the top of the list this past year. Did get our tractor fluids and filters changed. More trees cut down to make room for another storage container. Etc, etc, life gets in the way. However, I can start posting now. I'm at the point of the throttle cable bracket problem. But I get ahead of myself. |

Re: G2/G9 Twins I've Inherited - Non-running
I've reviewed many threads about the cable tension bracket.
The new Lifans don't have a level attachment anymore. Its canted at about a 45 degree angle. This is the amount of washers I had to add to the studs coming out of the carb. Sure makes the end result airbox ride on top of the big bolt holding on the rear shock. I upgraded my work area with an umbrella from a dumpster dive. Score 1 for the home team. Putting the engine in and getting ready for the clutch. |

Lots of measurements of the shaft for the clutch.

More measurements and a few examples of the keyway on the shaft.
The first two photos show you how much difference there is when you put the plate on correctly or flipped so the pretty side is facing the engine instead of facing out. It would definitely make your belt be out of alignment. |

And the last of the measurements. You can see the longer piece provided by Vegas carts versus what originally came with it.
The keyway has a hinky end to keep it in place. I also added plenty of anti-seize in case I ever have to remove it. |

Put the key in the keyway (? hope I have the terminology right). Easy on tapping it in so it doesn't buckle.
Putting on the clutch. All the pretty parts for the end. Line up the belts. And yes, I still have a rat nest of wires to deal with. |

That is looking good, nice work! Make sure you keep the engine straight to the trans also, when I did mine I used a long straight edge like a yard stick size, put it against the back side of the fixed sheave. It should measure the same to the other clutch both front and rear then you know its lined up straight. If its angled the belt will wear funny. Look at all that shiny new stuff, going to be a fun cart when you get rolling!

Re: G2/G9 Twins I've Inherited - Non-running
Vegas carts documentation says I needs to remove this armature... I couldn't find anything like that to remove.
Tightened the bolt on the starter generator. Took a bacon break. I swear I didn't know about the in-tank filter. The lawnmower repair guys added external filters on the lines. Makes me wonder if they didn't know either. Then, of course, it started raining so I had to cover up everything with plastic and put up my tools - again. |

Re: G2/G9 Twins I've Inherited - Non-running
Replaced all the fuel lines
Engine tensioner no longer fits. If I get the plate in there and the motor mount in there, the tensioner sits too far to the side. If I flip the motor mount so the bolt plate bolt lines up, the tension is even more out of wack. Bleh. Going to punt on this right now. Why? Because it started raining again. This time it was about an inch ... you can just see that the tarp on the cart has about an inch in it around the sledge. They butchered the front of the seat to put in two switches but by the time I got this, there was just a hole where one switch used to be. go figure. |
