Default R&F swith issue

TXT = R&F switch. Very expensive >$100 for quality

RXV = Electric Key Switch. Cheap at $20.

What's the difference? Can RXV Elec. Key switch go bad?

What type of cart do you have? If by the txt switch, you’re talking about the rotary one, you’re talking about two completely different switches that wouldn’t work for the same cart.

OOPS! Should'a told you.
2009 RXV, lifted, new batteries. A ranch vehicle. (Drive around drinking beer)
I have an RXV w/ Electric Key Switch making knowledge of the TXT R&F Switch irrelevant.

How would I check to see if the RXV Electric Key Switch is non-functional?

The carting around drinking beer part I’m very familiar with. Unfortunately, the rxv part, I’m not. I’ve got a txt, which is a much simpler cart. I thought I’ve read before that f/r switching is done by the controller, but I don’t know. I’d also say to pull the key switch and test continuity in r, but DONT DO THAT unless someone that actually knows what they’re talking about says to. Way too many stories of guys accidentally frying their 1k rxv controller.

Someone who knows will be along soon. The people on this site are very helpful.

Out of all the times I have heard "my Rxv wouldn't go forward or backward, so I replaced my key switch", not once have I heard it followed by "and it's all fixed now".

With an Danaher handheld programmer you could see if it's working or not. These programmers are very valuable in troubleshooting these RXV's. And don't mess with your key switch or you'll be replacing your controller if you don't know what your doing.

Danaher handheld? A diagnostic computer much like an auto repair shop would use? I suppose a reputable repair shop would have one?

No this is for a Danaher controller only. Very helpful tool if you have excess to one.

I have a 2009 RXV...when I first got it I had "problems" with cart not moving when switching to F and R...I found out I was switching too fast between R N F..so now I turn the switch to N ..wait a few seconds...go to F or R ...wait.. then go ..no more problems
