I’ve never used primer with the fusion. Just do several light coats until it’s nice and covered. I’ve never cleared it either. Just satin black fusion.
Depending on usage, if it does scratch or something just spray it with more satin black and it blends perfectly. If you cleared it then it would be a lot more difficult to touch up. This pic was taken probably a year or more after I painted it. I bought the roof for $10 from my local cart shop. I rode that cart pretty hard… the paint held up great. |

I painted my top a few weeks ago, well actually painted all the body parts. I disassembled then washed and scuffed with green 3m, then wiped down with xylene. I did not use an adhesion promoter but probably should have, I had several runs that I had to sand out and repaint. Used Krylon Fusion with very good results. Painted the top first and let it dry an hour or so then flipped it over and painted the underside, knowing that if I got a scuff on the topside then I could touch it up and probably never be seen as I have a lift on mine. Attached some after and before pics.
