Parts needed to go 48V
Hello All Again,
I have a 86 marathon and a 94 marathon rear axle. I want to go 48V or Lithium. Im thinking of purchasing a D&D motor 17-0013-0001 w/ 500 amp Altrex controller. 1. They are telling me I cant go Lithium with this motor. 2. Is this my only option? (side note: I want the option of going 30mph) 3. How can I find a list of parts needed to swap? not sure whats needed for the 48V swap and what parts the controller replace? what stays and what goes. Thank you all, Y |

Re: Parts needed to go 48V
I think you can go lithium but it is going to be an expensive pack to be able to handle the current draw. If you are looking for speed I would definitely recommend going the sepex route. Motor, controller, solenoid, harness, charger, wires, fnr toggle and some type of throttle will be required.

Re: Parts needed to go 48V
I have seen that people prefer sepex in other chats. Is there any specific brand that you think is best? Someone mentioned that they purchased a plum motor and they had some issues with it. Then they ended up going to D&D.
Also, D&D says that the motor they're suggesting will get me to 18MPH and if I feel like I want to go faster they can sell me gears to increase speed. Thanks, Y |

Re: Parts needed to go 48V
PQ is a good company and has good products but D&D is another option. A stock PDS sepex motor and an Alltrax controller on 36 volts will get you mid 20s on stock tires. Going to 48 with a upgraded motor will push 30

Re: Parts needed to go 48V
Hello kgsc,
Plum has gotten back to me and recommended this package below: The Demon package of motor, controller, 2ga. cables, and HD solenoid Motor Specs: New Custom Built Motor, Class H Motor Rating, High Performance Brushes, Torque/Speed EZ-GO 48 volt Series 19 spline 16.7 HP, Speed 28-30 mph (estimated) and added 50% more torque *must upgrade controller*, flat terrain and a good quality battery pack. Based on the items still needed I don't really know which ones work and really what Im looking for. harness Is this a wire harness or a harness for the controller? charger Will any 48V charger and plug adapter work? throttle So many different ones with years and body types. How should I determine which one is needed. Thank you for all the help, YQ |

Re: Parts needed to go 48V
Not sure what controller they are using but usually just connects with spade lugs so not a problem. Any 48 charger will work. Throttle depends on the controller and your cart. Does yours have ITS or a pot box?

Re: Parts needed to go 48V
Well, not "any" charger will work... all the clubcar 48v chargers designed for use with OBC wont work.

Re: Parts needed to go 48V
My bad. Cg is correct. Has to be a charger not designed for an OBC.

Re: Parts needed to go 48V
Im having a hard time identifying whether my cart is a POT or ITS throttle? Any way you could take a look at the photos and help identify.
Im thinking since i'm getting rid of all electrical components and replacing with a newer system does it matter what type of throttle i put in? |

Re: Parts needed to go 48V
Just called a place and they needed to know information on my controller for the throttle. Ive uploaded the photos with the specs. Hopefully this helps its really the only missing piece.
Thanks, |
