cart upgrades...might as well go 48v?
all,
i will be upgrading my cables to 2ga, controller to 500a w/SD solenoid, charger to DPI Accusense, HD F/R switch, new pack of batteries, and a DVM. why wouldn't i just go ahead and upgrade it to a 48v cart? what is left really but the motor? is the performance jump worth it? unless i am overlooking something i think the only cost difference would be about $60 more for the 8v batteries. shrp |

Yes if your going to upgrade your cart then yes you should go 48 volts, and you don't have to switch the motor. your 36 volt motor will run good on 48 volts

Re: cart upgrades...might as well go 48v?
Just a suggestion, but if your going to go with a HD F\R switch, save yourself some future headaches and buy a ScottyB Reversing Contactor. http://www.cartsunlimited.net/Reversing_Contactors.html After I toasted my second HD F\R switch I purchased one of his Super Duty Contractors and never looked back. IMHO these are worth every penny and remove the "weak link" in the TXT system.

Another for 48v, it was the first thing i did to my marathon. Stock 36v TXT highspeed motor was great on 48v.

Re: cart upgrades...might as well go 48v?
Be sure to mention the possibility of using 8V batteries when you get the 2Ga cables.
Both terminals on an 8V battery are on the same side, so the five cables connecting the batteries in series have to be longer than they are for 6V batteries. Cable built for a pack using 8V batteries pack will work for a pack using 6V batteries, but not the other way. |
