Unhappy No Reverse

HELP! I have a non-DCS =EZGo 36 volt cart and I have no reverse. It runs great in forward but will not move in reverse.

I have check the following:
1. Selector Switch - OK
2. Motor windings - OK
3. Brushes - OK

The only thing left is the controller.

I worked with the thing moving the selector switch in the reverse position the pressing on the accelerator several times, then all of a sudden the thing engages in reverse and moves. I do it again and nothing.

IS THE CONTROLLER?

Default Re: No Reverse

Probably not the controller.

In a series drive (Non-DCS mean series drive), the difference between forward to reverse is external to the controller.
Specifically, it is the high current contacts in the F/R switch assembly that changes the direction of current flow through the stator windings.

If the solenoid clicks when the pedal is pushed while in Reverse, the problem is in the high current contacts.

If the solenoid does not click in reverse, the problem is associated with MS-2 (microswitch on the F/R assemble) contacts not closing.

MS-2 is part of the solenoid activation circuit in both Forward and Reverse, and the solenoid clicks in forward, so it may be a mechanical issue. Either the indentation in the moveable cam the the switches roller drops into is filled with debris, or the cam isn't turning all the way to the mechanical stop when you put it into reverse.
