Default Speed Controller

I have an Ez-Go Express S4 and trying to find out what kind of Speed Controller it has. All I can see in the manual is that it is "250-amp Solid State Controller" Where exactly is it located? How does it look like? I wanted to get some more information off it.

Thank you.

THAT'S IT! just a warning.....do not do any disconnecting or electrical work until you put the tow switch in TOW!

Is it a 48V system?

If so, the controller isn't the 36V one (Curtis 1206MX) pictured by Sir Nuke.

Yep thats the one, i was waiting for the "peak commotion" to die down. I'm not a big fan of that controller. Not because its garbage "weaksauce", it is. Just becuse i cant "crank it up" much at all for speed or power. Even "cranked", it wont top 25mph, even with bigger "street" tires on it (it will suck with big tires). The new 48v txt motor just dont have the "nuts". Its maxed out in the ~23~ mph range (tach sensor cheat, not easily available). We will see what will happen with XCT, but im not expecting miracles. Im talking about stock 48v 19mph "new txt" carts here, dont murder me with battery stats & such, Stock Hardware stuff, small amps. Due to the controller style, it should be upgradable easily, as the aftermarket adapts plugs (if alltrax or fsip doesnt have it, i dont know why). The motor is not "25mph" nor off-road ready, just get out that credit card. Its kinda "built to the minimum" just to achieve the 19mph. This is without "high speed gear" modifications, what i am speaking of

CG & KG: What is the Curtis model number on that controller?

I wasn't aware the sepex carts with the TCT (TruCourse Technology) controllers were such dogs.

Looks like Alltrax has a XCT replacement for it (TXT48 suffix). That might perk them up a bit, but the gear ratio in the standard S4 is 14.76:1, so it will be about 19% slower than a cart with 12.44:1 gears and the same height tires at the same motor RPM.

Also looks like the S4 HO (High Output) uses 12.44:1 gears and has a Curtis 1264 Controller (400A) and a different motor, but I don't think Alltrax has a controller that replaces the 1264 yet.

Hopefully I didn't murder you too much CG.
