Default The dreaded 'click'.. (2001 DS 48V)

I just purchased this cart on Saturday, it drove absolutely perfect. It has a lift, wheels, tires, front and rear bumpers, 6x8v mid-2015 Energizer batteries, and cargo box (just needs paint and seat recover). I drove this cart around a good 30 minutes at my home, and decided to drive it up on some ramps to wash it (didn't use a pressure washer). So, drive it up straight first, perfect, no problem. Reverse next, doesn't skip a beat. After I'm done, get it and turn the key, press the accelerator and 'click'.. No movement, forward or reverse. Do it a few more times and it engages. After messing around with it, it's engaging forward on the second 'click', but still no reverse. I'm taking the body off here shortly for sand/paint, so want to make sure all my bases are covered.

Plan of attack:
Fully charge it overnight, verify battery voltage, clean connections, verify solenoid is transferring power when throttle is engaged.

Anything else I need to do? Easy way to check F&R switch?

Now you see why I own a GAS cart..

Thanks in advance!

Water and electric don't mix good. you can take the switch apart and dry it out. Try taking a leaf blower and blowing everything out good.

Thanks fella's for the quick reply, I'll see if the no-go status has changed after work today, should have been long enough to dry if that's the case.

This is my first battery cart, I'll keep that in mind. Is their any 'water proofing' you guys do to make sure this doesn't happen any other time?

Great news, cart ran awesome this afternoon, no issues at all. I must have gotten the F&R switch wet like many have stated, I'm going to attempt to waterproof the electrical system once the body comes off. Thank you for everyone's help concerning this issue.
