Re: Convert a 48v charger to 36v
The original cart plug was round. What's on it now?

Re: Convert a 48v charger to 36v
Ok, i will go into the whole story on this cart...lol...My neighbor has this. The serial number says that it is a 1987. The person that he bought it from told him that he had converted it to 48 volts but he always had problems with it. He said that someone somewhere told him to take one of the batteries out and it would run better. The cart had 6-8volt batteries in it. Well, by the time that I saw the cart, there were only 4-8 volt batteries still in the cart. The motor says 36 volt on it and all 5 solenoids say 36 volts on them. I put 6-6volt batteries back into the cart and borrowed someones 36 volt charger and it runs fine now except that we now have the charger which I have been discussing. The plug is a V two prong. One of my other neighbors has an old 36 volt club car and had a charger with the same plug and that is what I used to charge it and it works perfectly. Thanks for all the help

Re: Convert a 48v charger to 36v
No Wonder we were confused. The answer to your original question is no.
If the charger you have there has been converted to work (goes through a 3 phase charge by itself) as a standalone charger then I'm sure you can trade it with somebody here on this board who wants to go to from 36v to 48v and make you both happy. |

Re: Convert a 48v charger to 36v
Thanks scottyb...that would probably be great. My neighbor is 81 years old and uses the cart to ride around his yard and he would appreciate it greatly. $300 is a bit much for him to spend at this time. Thanks

Re: Convert a 48v charger to 36v
That charger you have there is a Club Car Powerdrive 48v charger made by Lester. It was originally made to work with the OBC, but someone has modified it with an aftermarket timer. Probably because their OBC went bad so they made it a manual timer. It is still a 48v charger. Hope this makes sense.
