Default Brake light Timer

My brake lights stay on for 5 minutes when activated. Big power drain. I want to install a 30 sec timer, but I am not sure of the proper installation. Lifted floor board and found three wires going to a harness (red, brown and blk/wht). If i disconnect any of those wires the brake lights fail to operate. Does anyone know how to install the timer in this circuit or is it not possible?

Is this a Precedent? If so, it's got LED taillights. We're talking milli-amps. It's not hurting anything. Nobody, to my knowledge, makes such a timer.

Brake lights? 5 minutes? What am I missing here? Are you saying the switch is sticking?

All Precedent light kits and some DS aftermarket light kits use a timer to shut the brake lights off after a period of time. He's unhappy with the 5 minute timer and wants a shorter duration.

I thought 30 seconds is the standard on all of those brake light timers.

IDK. I'm trying to learn something here too. The only thing I have with brake lights on it is a Carryall. I just looked at it and the brake lights go on and off with the brake pedal like a car. Y'all have lost me with this 5 min. thing.

If Your 12v source goes OFF with the key switch or you have a pressure pad, then it is not an issue.

If you only have one regular switch on the brake pedal and You use the parking brake, the light stays ON.

This is the typical 30sec timer (square box) you would use in this case.

Sergio, this is the box I've been using from RedHawk and Doubletake. Both of them time out at 5 minutes.
