Sergio,
I don't remember the brand, but that is the setup I installed on my Precedent. The brake lights stay on for 30 seconds when you lock the Park brake.

But as Dave mentioned above, they are LED so they do not use much power.

When I google it, they all say 30 seconds, but now I wonder if the timer is dependent on the load... maybe it is 30 seconds with incandescent bulbs or 5 minutes with LEDs....

I have the same unit in my cart. 30 seconds, on the dot. I am running LEDs.

That's news to me. Every one I've ever timed was 5 minutes or slightly higher. There's probably multiple vendors for these things. I know for a fact that the factory ones are 5 minutes. That's probably what the OP is using.

You guys need to call me out when I'm wrong. Keep in mind I build these things and tell them bye. I don't keep them, nor do I own one.

How tough would it be to put a mechanical plunger type brake switch on one of these?

It uses a metal plunger, but when you lock the brakes it stays engaged, that's why there's a time over-ride.

ahhh....now I get it. Didn't even think about that.
I was wondering why brake lights would stay on for 5 minutes or even 30 seconds....
I'm showing my ignorance here.

I have a gas precedent the owners manual says the brake light will go off in 3-5 minutes I believe. I timed them and go off in 4 minutes this is with park brake set and key on. They go off with key off also.

On my DS I installed brake light switch and a 30 second timer. Works great.

Yeah this is the factory switch. I've even seen them fail before and never turn off.
