I have a chance to get an amd 5 hp motor. Anyone know if they are any better than my bandit motor.

Re: AMD Motor
I had the AMD 3294 5HP speed motor in my Precedent with stock controller and Code 4. I got about 24 mph but no torque going up hills (large mound at the course was difficult if starting at bottom). I replaced the controller with a Curtis 400A and greatly improved torque (hills no longer an issue), speed 28. Replaced the batteries with lithium with same motor and controller and got to about 32mph. Then came the Executioner and lots of torque and 37mph.
Right after that, I installed a lithium pack in a friends TXT with Bandit upgrade motor and Alltrax 48400 controller. I runs at 32mph and can spin the tires on concrete. I have even thought of sending the 1 1/2 yr old AMD 3294 to PQ for an upgrade on it. My experience; keep the Bandit. |

Re: AMD Motor
Thanks, I was wondering if the higher hp would be any advantage. No way of knowing what the bandit is

Re: AMD Motor
I went ahead and got the motor, WOW, that sucker is strong. I was getting 28 mph one way on my road and 22 the other way. Now I'm getting 25+ both ways the speed sensor kicks in and holds it at a little over 25. Up the hill beside my house road I was getting 17 at top of hill with my bandit now I'm getting 22+.
Btw I was burning up my bandit, all kinds of black dust when I pulled it off. Must have been the 350 amp controller and creeping a lot looking for golf balls. |

Re: AMD Motor
What's that glob on the inner close to the hub? My stock motor has that when I pulled it, figured something melted there?

That glob was there when new. I think it is for balance.
