The reason I asked about the batteries is just because of weight.

Moon! Just to update you - the motor is locked up! Once I removed it - the cart easily rolls both directions! I'll be getting a new motor soon and hopefully a new controller....as this one is burned up! I truly appreciate your help last night!

No problem. Glad to help. It's just hard sometimes when you can't actually see something.

Good luck with your project!

This is the way we roll around here.

Providing the motor isn't locked up, at least... :D

OP: What kind of motor are you going with?

I found a brand new stock one for $300 near me. I guess I’ll go with it. I didn’t plan on having to replace a motor and a controller - and likely some of the wiring harness, so now I’ve got to start looking at costs! :(

Depending on what your goals are, my meager opinion is that spending $300 on a stock motor is not a good value. You may be able to get an upgraded motor for not too much money. Do you know what's wrong with the stock motor? Maybe it's fixable? Plum Quick maybe?

I'm going to go out on a limb here.

Brakes stuck to the hubs. Motor locked up. Controller bad. Nothing known about the history of the cart. I'm going to venture a guess this is a flooded cart. They wind up all over the country.

If so, the MCOR, solenoid, and who knows what else is shot. I think $300 is a good price for that motor. I would put that in, batteries and a controller and troubleshoot from there.

Probably a good time to check/change the rear end oil too.
