Default Aftermarket DS dash install.. how do you handle the key?

So ive watched videos online and none of them really give good guidance on the key. The key is about two inches long and there is only one nut. Do people typically double nut the key so it doesn’t stick out so far?

I replaced mine with a switch that was shorter and uses a different key, solving the length problem and deterring the theft problem too. It required a little engineering but it worked out nice.

Ive never personally installed a dash kit on a DS and its been a while since installing a dash kit on a Precedent so I cant really remember but I would think yes you double nut it so you can adjust the depth.

Here is a link to the nut if you decide to go that route.

Here is a pic of Double Take dash. Because of the issue you brought up, the long key switch. I instead purchased a TXT KS and installed it because of the decorative nut used with it. The TXT KS is a smaller diameter hole but I was cutting a new hole so it didn't matter.

This also gives you the ability to eliminate the standard light switch because you can use the second set of contacts on the switch, originally designed for the TXT lights, for the DS lights. First pos is KS, second pos is KS and Lights. Convenient for DS dashes. I did not use the KS this way, but, had I put a radio in the centerpiece with the KS, I would have moved the voltmeter to the right side and put the light wiring on the KS.

These switches also available with Uncommon key.
