Re: Cut reverse buzzer now limp mode RXV
Perfect. That’s the route I’m taking. I have reconnected the buzzer and it’s still in limp mode on old controller. The Buzzer is the only thing I cut. So hopefully nothing else should be wrong.
The buzzer on these carts are obnoxiously loud. And I’m sure the deer hate that noise when I pull into a trail. I always made it so I didn’t have to reverse when hunting. I don’t mind a low noise buzzer though so I’ll just tape it up. Thanks everyone. I’ll report back after I replace the controller. |

Here is some interesting reading about disconnecting the beeper.

It is probably too late but the Curtis controller can be told to turn off the beeper. I can’t 100% remember but you might even be able disable the check for the beeper so regular speed might come back. Oh Bob?

Re: Cut reverse buzzer now limp mode RXV
A first mistake of cutting a wire, then immediately re-attaching it usually damages the port, but does not totally kill the chip. If it is left cut for long enough, then the damage progresses to the point that it is not bypassable. The bypass I use is to totally disable the port, all self-testing, and zero out all voltage drive to that section of the chip. If done in time, the cart will operate normally, with random chirps coming from the buzzer at times. Obviously it is too late for that now. FSIP will not even attemp to repair one at that level anymore, because damage can cascade far beyond the damaged portion of the IC and into other ICs interfaced to it. They can still usually be sent in as a core though when buying a replacement controller.

Re: Cut reverse buzzer now limp mode RXV
New control box fixed the issue. One strange thing I noticed when I hooked the buzzer wires back up was that the buzzer went off in forward, neutral, and reverse. Still wouldn’t go on old box. New one fixed it. Thanks all for the help and I hope someone learns something through my stupidity.
Also I just wrapped some duct tape over the buzzer and it’s a perfect low tone. Wish I would of done that from the get go. |
