Default Testing the battery Meter with voltmeter

I may have fried my battery volt meter when I left the cart out overnight and it got drenched in the sprinklers. Everything working fine after dry-out except the battery volt-meter is not registering any bars, while the cart (2009 Precedent) is charging and running fine. I have tried the to reset it, but have not been able to get it to work.

Can I do a continuity check between the positive/negative terminals to determine if it is fried? A check shows no continuity. It does have the third terminal that goes to the ignition switch. Need to know if it is broke before I buy a new one. Thanks.

I looked at those. With only two connectors, can they be installed so that they are not continuously on? Are there Instructions to install so they go off? But still want to know how to test the one I have!!

Hook the positive up to the switched side of the key switch so it will only work when the key is on...Mine is on all the time and draws hardly anything...I like it that way so I can see the battery voltage all the time...

I hooked mine right up to the battery pack as well, for the same reason. I like knowing what's going on all the time and the draw is so small I don't think you could measure it.

A battery voltmeter that is not always on is useless when it is off. You really need to spot check charging and voltage drop after charging when the cart is idle.

All of the above advice is good! Throw that POS bar meter in garbage where it belongs and get digital voltmeter. They are cheapest investment to keep an eye on your most expensive investment (batteries). Mine also stays on so I can see voltage whenever I walk by.

Yes, you can do a test, if you are not getting anything with switch is on, it's dead. I went thru 2 of them until I bought the digital from Cartsunlimited and has worked ever since.
