Default What year Club Car to AVOID

I’ll be buying someones neglected 48v cart soon with plans/ability to replace motor, controller, batteries and adding lift kit, tires, back seat etc.

Most of the $1000-$1500 carts now appear to be 1995-2000 Club Cars. I don’t care about the age, I just don’t want to get a lemon year/model.

Anything out there I should be looking to avoid?

I think that the early 95 DS cannot use the MCOR conversion kits available from David at Revolution Golf Cars (site sponsor) Call him and make sure what year the MCOR upgrade kits are available for DS. He has them in stock usually. This would be a main addition to the upgrades you are going to do. I would also consider not using a new HD manual F-R switch and go with the F-R contactor setup. David can supply you with everything needed for a DS, he is the Club Car guru.

I agree with what PingEye3 said.

In addition, the later 1998 through 2000.5 models can be converted to IQ with a new wiring harness from Revolution also. Make sure you get the OEM harness David Hicks sells. The ones available on-line are two times the cost of his and a nightmare to install. This is very important and will give you the most flexibility in making the conversion.

I suggest you try to find a Sepex cart with the run/ tow switch and the rocker type fwd/ rev. switch.

Doesn't really matter what it is, get under it and look at the frame.
Electronics can all be ripped out easy. Any drive system can be totally replaced with modern parts.
If the frame is bent or cracked then it's a lot more work to fix that.

Exactly what FT said. Only other advice I would have is if you want to fix what you have, stay away from a Regen 1.

Thanks for the info.

Have to ask. How would I know if its a Regen 1?

Haven’t bought anything yet. Missed out on a few yesterday. The decent stuff sells quick.

I have a 1995 club car DS and was able to use the 39000 IQ wiring harness with my current peddle box for my AC conversion.
