Default g16 why does the throttle have a sweet spot

Ok I just bought my first cart. It starts right up and runs fine no backfires or lack of get up and go. Only problem I find is that it seems to have a sweet spot in the throttle. If I just press the gas to the floor it starts but just kind of sits still. doesn't rev or anything just sits there, when I back off the throttle a little it takes off fine. No noises or anything just have to find the right spot on the throttle to make it roll. Any ideas?? And on a side note seems that the brake pedal has a lot of travel before it begins to stop. Stops good wondering if it is just out of adjustment.

Welcome to BGW. Could be a few different things, carb, cable, switch under gas pedal loose wire. Start by looking everything over.

Thanks, I think I can rule out the carb. The cart had been sitting for about a year and a half and the carb was really gummed up. Wouldn't even start, me and the guy I bought it from took the carb off and cleaned it up real good and put a new fuel pump on. Still wouldn't start. I suggested to him that he pick up some B12 cleaner and go through the carb again, that fixed the no start issue. I will have to check out that cable real good as soon as I get it home I plan on putting it up on jack stands and tweaking/adjusting everything REAL good along with an oil change. Are these engines picky about gaskets around the carb and air cleaner? If so that might be a good place to start I know the gaskets are in rough shape. By the way looks like you guys got a great forum here!

Yes, the gaskets are very important. Keep us posted on what you find.

If stock a bad seal on the airbox lid will make them start hard or run strange, let alone an intake leak. You have to richen the carb if you do anything to them.
