Default What does the ammeter on my charger show or tell me

I was wondering what the ammeter on the charger shows. Is that how many amps it is putting in the cart? Or is that how many amps left until a full charge?

Newbie jumping into the thread. If the charger is still humming even though the amp meter is at zero, does it mean it is finished charging and it is just not shutting off? If so, why is it not shutting off? What should I check? Thanks in advance for the input.

Did the needle start at some point other than zero? If yes, then Id say you have newer batteries. If it just stays at zero you have other issues.
Remember though, that meter does NOT tell you if the batteries are charged.

To answer your question: It tells you how many amps it's putting out to charge your batteries. It should start out on the high side and gradually drop lower as the batteries charge.

Some chargers with a float mode like DPI could be putting so little amperage into the cart the meter appears to be at 0. The float mode will continue indefinitely and can be verified by reading your in dash voltmeter which will show the pack at 2-3 volts above the full

If You have a working OBC charging the system, the charging current will not get below 2 amps, so in this case the charger relay contacts are sticking and the relay should be replaced.

You can verify that by unplugging the DC cord from the cart and checking if the charger continues to hum.

The relay is the part that needs to be replaced (the contacts are internal to the relay).

Post the actual model # of your charger, the site sponsors sell replacement relays.
