Default 48v upgrade

besides adding to more batteries, what all do i need to change out? i have converted my cart to 36v solid state controlled. do i need to change out the solenoid or will it handle the 48v? i plan on adding to batteries to the bagwell. just curious what need to be replaced now. thanks

what i am trying to find out is can you run 48 volts thru the 36 volt solenoid?

There is a way ... It depends upon what solenoid you have. If it is the big black W/R 200 most Ezgo Marathons used in the 90s you can keep the activation circuit on 36 and let the main contacts handle the 48v switching.... but the smaller silver solenoids wont handle it for long if at all.

here is my set up: alltrax axe4844 controller, albright sw182 style reversing (sw182,36v coils with 2 suppression diodes,200amp)mzj-200d 36v contactor with 1 amp & 220 ohm resistors

That solenoid is 36v specific. You can put 48v through the main contacts but keep the activation circuit at 36v.

When I was going through the trying to keep all of the parts I could, it was explained that if you put too much juice through a 36 volt solinoid, you could weld your contacts together, causeing a death wagon situation, especially if you have kids driving it.
