What Motor??
I have a 2000 GS with the 290 clockwise motor. The cart didnt come with a starter generator and I borrowed one from my friend. It has very little spark. I was thinking about changing motors. My question is what are my options with a clockwise motor? I know I need clockwise or I will need to change things in the rear end. I have the cart tore apart and figured if I half to take the motor out why not get a new motor. I would like to find something with a electric start and not even worry with the starter generator. I plan to lift it and just go trick on it. Big block is also a thought as long as it works with the clockwise thing.

Re: What Motor??
Here's how this works for a 97+ Club Car with Clockwise rotation:
It's to my understanding that Club Car designed their 97+ unitized trans-axle to be clockwise rotation, and had Kawasaki build their engines for Club Car to work with their unitized trans-axle. CC is the only cart manufacturer to do this, and for Kawasaki to keep CC's business, Kawasaki complied. Now... most (if not all) engines are counterclockwise rotation, (besides the CC/Kawi engines) and yes, with some fab work you can use pretty much any one of them in a 97+ CC, BUT... you'll have to have the shifter in reverse to go forward! and being that the gear ratio is slightly different between forward and reverse, You'll have more torque and less top speed when doing it this way, There are a few here that have no problem with this set up, and they seem to be happy with it! However... if your FE290 engine is not "blown up", it would be much easier, and cheaper to repair it, then to replace it! |

Re: What Motor??
There are a number of things you can do to give it more torque and a higher top speed, it all depends on your budget!
But, you have to remember... it's a 9.5 hp, single cylinder engine, there will only be so much you can do! Do some reading here in the CC gas section... you'll be amazed at what others have done! |
