Question on what to fix first
Hi guys. This is my very first post. Been reading the sight for a few days now trying to trouble shoot my 1980 EZ Go. You guys are sharp and pointed me in the right direction. Now I'm trying to figure out what to fix first. I found that my resister coil (big slinky) has a break in it. There is also a pretty nasty burn or weld on the speed switch board. Do both parts need to be replaced or can the board contacts be cleaned up and continue to function OK. Also do I need to replace the wiper contact? It seems these parts all work together and failed together. Im just wondering where to throw my hobbie money first. Any help would sure be appreciated.

Re: Question on what to fix first
Bailey.....have you considered up-grading your drive system into this century? and go from a Resistor set-up to a Controller??
oh and btw...... Welcome to our happy little corner of the net, and to BGW. There is a BIG fridge on the back porch with anything you can think of in it...help yourself...of course only take what you can LEGALLY have. Make yourself at home on one of the big fluffy couches, kick your shoes off, put your feet up on one of the tables, yes we are allowed to do that, mom's, dad's, wives', husband's, girlfriend's and boyfriend's here don't care....and take it easy. oh...btw....every once in a while a food fight breaks out...so you may not want to wear nice clothes here. Welcome!! |

Re: Question on what to fix first
Thanks Crash. I figured they would all need replacing. Should I too replace the solenoid and micro switch. Are those prone to die when this system fries? Whats a micro switch do? I also though of Changing out all the cables just for the peace of mind but they don't look that bad. What do you think on that?

Re: Question on what to fix first
he micro switch engages the power when the pedal is pressed
it would not hurt to replace the micro switch & solenoid as for wires take a couple photos if your going to have new parts ....why not do it right |
