Look at it again, in your drawing the dimmer is always powered, plus and minus, no matter what position.
The one I posted the dimmer only gets negative when in high beam mode. The positive is removed from the entire circuit when Power is off.
I like switching the positive side off since a lot of devices have common negative.

I'll look at it again. If you solved my dilemma, I thank you.

As I said, I normally switch both + and -, just 'cause I'm wired that way. This is a compromise, which I can fix with a relay, but unlike most engineers, I don't believe, "if it ain't broke, it just needs more features". Even though I have dozens of industrial relays, that's just another point of failure.

Thanks

OK, your diagram should work, assuming the dimmer doesn't fry with power feeding the output. Heck, it cost less than $4 including shipping, so I'll give it a try.

I'll swap the top and bottom negative side, as I want up to be bright and down to be dim. Switch terminals are opposite from the toggle position, as I mentioned, however, you solved my brain freeze problem.

Thanks

Just as another option.. How bout this ?

Center is 12 volt + both sides

Right side is tails, up and down are full power.

Left side, toggle down will give full power, toggle up will get power through the dimmer.

That will not work, according to the OP, the dimmer controls the negative side of the lights. The dimmer shares a single positive for in and out.

I like Sergio's scheme best. Dunno about EEs who can't read my hieroglyphics.

I'll take a closer look this afternoon. You don't show dimmer output. It has two input and two output wires, and + is internally connected on the I and O.

Agreed, except not powered when in off. DPDT switch has a middle position, which is off. Up and down will be bright and dim.

Not sure if I have seen that kind of dimmer but sounds like + just passes through. Maybe forget those connections and try just the - side.
