James Condon on youtube redoes a 15 hp Lifan that had a nearly seized connecting rod and blown head gasket along with an errant exhaust valve lash cap. This video shows a lot of good engine internal clean up details. The one area that I differ on is the way he clearances the new connecting rod bolt. Rather than notching the oil wiper in the crankcase he grinds the end of the connecting rod bolt. All said if you have not be inside the large block clone this gives you good idea what is involved for a basic rebuild on a hurt engine.

More on the 212 valve cover gasket story. I had ordered a laser cut 1/16" Felpro material gasket from an E Bay supplier. It must have been from an earlier version of the engine so it did not fit. The seller asked me to trace the cork gasket I had and send it to him. He received it yesterday showed me a copy of that he made. I asked if he could improve the areas where originals had failed. So he programmed his laser cutter and WOW this version really looks good. He sending me the first 2 of his new 212 units and when I receive them I will post pics here.

We only got about 7"s BUT the heavy winds are forecast for the next several days. Power is on SO FAR. Izzy is having FUN running around in the snow BUT she doesn't stay out there long.

I see on another site someone has one of the new HF 459's. It has a hemi head and an OIL PUMP. The rocker arms look like the Champion units VC sells or the 670 type rather than the ones on the 420 hemi. The rocker cover looks to be a cast aluminum unit. The block is ribbed much like the VC block. The mounting pattern is the same as the other clones. I hope the owner further disassembles this thing for a look inside the crankcase and the oil pump

Finally took Vicki out for a ride today. Again without a choke she was a little slow to fire up, BUT part of that is I forgot the procedure is NOT to use any throttle until she fires up. Did a couple of laps around the block to get all her parts moving
