Yes the picture is upside down for some reason. It is on the top. Just like the photos.

I pulled the exhaust off today to verify the piston was installed correctly and it was. However the piston has some major scoring. I took a video of it with my borescope but I don’t think I can upload a video on here. The cylinder walls look ok so I’m wondering if whom ever”rebuilt” the engine reused the old piston. Re-ring the slug and hone the jig and sent it on its way? It has 105 lbs of comp so it should still run correct?

Factory best is 120. Mine was 100 in 2013 and still runs strong every day.

105 is fine.

Spray some starting fluid around the rear seal to see if it runs any better.

After that, take the carburetor apart for a good cleaning. Especially the hollow brass tube that runs up the center.

Do all of the free stuff first to eliminate possibilities. Then throw parts at it.

Wait wait wait. Somebody else rebuilt this?

I noticed in your picture that the wires are soldered on to the pulsar coil. Maybe they switched them.

yes someone else rebuilt it. i thought of that also if memory serves the manual says the red wire should be closest to the engine which it is. and the carb is spotless also tried a brand new carb. i guess i could cut the wires and try hooking them up opposite and see what happens. i really am leaning towards a timing issue. as i have said i set the pulse ring according to the book and it wants to run just cant quite get it going. then it loads up with fuel.

If pulser wires are incorrect it will backfire and won't run. I would do as cart around suggested. Swap those wires around and see what happens. If wired backward it throws the timing way off.

You don't have to cut anything. Just make some jumper wires that you can swap around.
