Default Curtis Programming

Bought a 500 amp Curtis for my DS.
It was not programmed for DS.
When we tried to program controller, the programmer will not boot up unless the accel pedal is pushed down to engage solenoid, then programmer will power up.
I've not used a programmer before. It this the norm, you have to engage solenoid to power programmer ?

It is not necessary for the Solenoid to be engaged, but You do need Logic power on terminal #1.

Most DS carts power the solenoid and the Controller #1 terminals together.

By terminal 1, do you mean the top spade terminal?
I am wired to color diagram in sticky.
I have yellow cable from solenoid to B+ on controller and a red wire from small terminal on solenoid to first spade terminal on controller.
Does it matter which terminal on the solenoid the small red and yellow wires are connected?

The top spade connector (terminal #1) is the +48v logic power/enable terminal on the Controller.

The Solenoid coil itself is not polarized unless You have a diode.

The positive (red wire typically) needs to be connected with the side of the diode that has a stripe.

Sergio, Thank you for your time and knowledge.

Finally got programmer to connect to controller.
When I installed controller with original program, when I pressed the pedal nothing would happen, when I released it to about halfway, the cart would take off. When I released a little more the cart stops.
I have tried all 9 throttle settings and the only one I get a response from is the original 0 setting. The setting where the cart takes off after letting up on pedal.
Diagnostics shows throttle fault.
The cart was running fine til I monkeyed with it.

What kind of throttle is installed on Your cart (2 or 3 wire)?

Throttle type 0 is a 0-5kΩ 2-wire throttle, so You need to make sure the purple wire from your throttle is not connected to controller B-.

If You have an MCOR or a 3-wire Vglide, the purple wire should be connected to Controller B- and the throttle type should be 9.

Edit: What is the controller model number? the throttle type 9 maybe single-ended on your model.

Disconnect the purple wire from the potentiometer that is connected to controller B- and tape it.

Use the other 2-wires from the potentiometer on terminals #2 and #3 (no particular order).

Set the throttle to type: 1 (5kΩ-0).

Did this, still no go.
Now will not move at throttle type 0 either.
When set to throttle 0, monitor shows 100% throttle, when pressed it goes to 0%.
This the only setting I am getting a throttle reading on.
