Default Re: Bad solenoid or controller?

I was able to have my motor rebuilt and just reinstalled it. Started off good but heard slight grinding sound so I stopped looked and the cart by the motor to ensure nothing was stuck or caught underneath and all looked good. Drove at a medium speed for another few minutes and then caught a slight smell of burning plastic under the seat. Nothing felt hot but I am wondering if the controller might be faulty now causing the solenoid resistor to get hot. Any thoughts? Am I thinking correctly? Thank you
