'96 Club Car only going 13mph??
Hello All, How can I get more speed? Using my phone GPS, I'm only getting 13 MPH. Batteries are only 2 years old. Thanks in advance for the responses.

Re: '96 Club Car only going 13mph??
Thats how fast my lifted ‘02 Club Car went when I bought it.
Gonna have to upgrade the controller and motor. I moved up to a 500 amp controller and a Beast motor and was moving 22-23mph. |

Is your cart 36 or 48?

Re: '96 Club Car only going 13mph??
I have a 2000 Club Car DS and I had to replace the motor to get more speed. I purchased a D&D high speed motor, upgraded my cables to 2 gauge and now I'm around 23 mph which is plenty fast. You should be able to get a couple extra mph by upgrading the size of your tires too if you have stock 8" wheels on you cart.

First guess is bad speed sensor. Cheap potential fix before upgrading motor. My 2012 goes 19mph with nothing more than a good speed sensor and the "speed code 5" (google it) hack. Stock motor. Stock controller.

What kind of cart do you have? Is it a toaster? The serial number would help.

X2 was just about to say the same thing...
13mph is stock. That means everything is working like it should. Now it’s time to upgrade. If you have a 48v cart then find a motor from a 36v DS. It’s a cheap way to get a good speed boost. If you really want to do it up then check out the upgrade packages on revolution golf cars site. You won’t find a better guy to do business with. |

Re: '96 Club Car only going 13mph??
We need to identify the drive system. We've already determined that it's a 48 volt car, but it could still be one of two different drive systems, both with a totally different upgrade approach. Does the vehicle have a lever operated F&R switch or a toggle switch? This will determine whether it's a series-drive or a Regen 1.
