G22 Gas No Spark, Ignition problem
I have a G22 Gas car that has an intermittent firing issue. The motor turns over every time I press the accelerator. I have an in-line spark tester attached between the plug and the plug cap.
About every third time I hit the accelerator, I get no spark and the engine does not crank. This only occurs once the motor has come to a complete stop. If I press and depress the accelerator while the engine is turning it will fire up everytime. I have replaced the ignition kill relay and the ignitor/tci unit, and still have the same problem. Can anyone help me diagnose this problem? |

Did you use an OEM TCI?

Yes, the TCI is OEM, so is the relay.

Just to be clear, the problem occurred before the TCI swap as well as after.... It doesn't seem to happen as frequently since I swapped it though.

You posted that sometimes the engine will not turn over? I that right?

Re: G22 Gas No Spark, Ignition problem
The engine always turns over, it does not always fire (no spark at the spark plug).
I have replaced the ignition stop relay and the TCI. I am still having an issue with not getting a spark on occasion even though the engine turns over.. It seems as if the engine stop relay is "sticking" or remaining grounded at times when the accelerator pedal is pressed. |

Re: G22 Gas No Spark, Ignition problem
unplug the white 2-wire plug at the base of the front of the engine. then try for spark again. that plug is the interface etween the tci & the kill relay. unpligging it should give you spark whenever the engine is turning (if the kill relay or its wires are the problem).

Re: G22 Gas No Spark, Ignition problem
I unpluged the wires, cart starts and runs each time. I am guessing that I have a wiring issue or a faulty relay at this point.
